After Thorian was left at the Order of the Dragon's monastery steps. He was raised by Devlin for many years. Devlin was kind, but tough to the young elf who had become like a son to him.
It wasn't until Thorian was 15 years of age did the monk tell him of that fateful night, of how he arrived. It was also on this very night that he was to be initiated into the Order of the Dragon.
But Thorian full of questions and wanderlust had other plans. Leaving only a note for Devlin, thanking him for all these years, and promising to come back to visit, Thorian left the monastery.
His destination was the city of Kern. For one day, Thorian had overheard some monks talking about the strange pendant around his neck. The monks had said that the greatest chance of finding a reference of the obscure rune on the pendant would be in the Great Library in the city of Kern.
It took Thorian many weeks to make the journey. When he arrived he was awestruck at the size of the city. Thorian had never seen so many people in one place. After the initial fear passed, of how he would survive in this place with no money, and only the clothes on his back, Thorian seemed to fit right in.
He took what he needed to survive, using his naturally inherent skills of stealth, and dexterity. At first Thorian believed what he was doing was wrong. He stole only to survive. But as the months went by he noticed how much the rich squandered, while the poor died starving in the streets.
Thorian began to pay attention to certain well to do individuals. Pacing them, learning their patterns. Getting to know his chosen marks, inside and out.
It was not to long after, that Thorian's actions were becoming well known on the streets. An elf living on the city streets isn't unheard of, but it is rare none the less.
Soon the Thieves Guild took an interest in young Thorian, offering him a warm bed and food, and most importantly, training in the art.
As the years went by Thorian rose through the ranks of the Thieves Guild hierarchy quickly, though few knew him by his real name. He was referred to by many as Ghost, on the count of his ability to "disappear" from view at will.
Although Thorian has fallen in love with the city life, and the excitement of the game, he has never forgotten the true reason of coming to Kern, or of the wise old monk that once told him, "All questions have answers, and answers come to those who wait patiently."
