The continent of Arcus is the largest in the known world. It stretches from the frozen mountains of the north to the burning deserts of the south. Arcus so dominates the world that travelers often just refer to the entire world as Arcus.

THISK

The empire of Thisk has shrunk in the last few hundred years. It has been broken into several free states. Today the Council of Nine controls the capital city of Kern, and the surrounding areas, but not much more.
The Thiskian Empire is a corrupt society. Where bribes and bureaucracy are not only common, but expected. The capital city is Kern.
The city is broken into three distinct sections. The Market District, the Marble District, and the Wharf district. The Market District is comprised mainly of buyers and sellers. It is said that with enough gold and persistence a man can buy anything in Kern, from a rare gem, to an elven child.
The Marble District is the seat of governmental power. Here the rich and powerful wage their great political battles, hoping to gain the favor of the Council. In the center of the Marble district sits the massive Golden Hall. This impressive building dominates the skyline and is where the council live and meet. The Golden Hall has 20 levels. The top nine each belong to one of the councilmen. The ground floor is the Hall of Marble, where the council listens to the people and make proclamations. Underneath the Golden Hall are miles and miles of catacombs, and a network of sewers.
The Wharf District sits flush against the River of Dreams. Here merchants send their goods down the river. Most ships here are designed for river travel, but a few can venture onto the open ocean.

SARQUAN
City-States- Population 1.5 million, Rulership Constitutional Monarchy; AL: NG; Wealth: High; Power Center: Thurish.
The rolling hills of Sarquan are spotted with hundreds of small villages, and townships. Thurish, the gleaming gem of Sarquan sits flush against the ocean on the western peninsula. The city represents the heart of Sarquan.
Sarquan is a peacful rural area located north of Thisk. Most people survive by farming, raising livestock, or hunting the great beasts that roam the plains. The wide open nature of Sarquan makes it hard to defend and has led to a major bandit problem.

Marront
Small City, Leader: Council AL: LG; Wealth: High; Power
Marront is located in the center of Sarquon. It is a major trading hub between the city states that comprise the Sarquonian kingdom. The people of Marront elect five elders to sit on the governing council every six years. This is mostly a peaceful place, and is rarely subject to attack by outside forces.

The IceForge of the far northeast is difficult to reach because of a large mountain range separating it from Sarquan. The rocky terrain and mountain ranges make invasion very difficult in the summer, and impossible in the winter.
Dwarves make their homes in the Southern Hammer Mountains and the western Anvil Mountains. The valleys between are home to mainly gnome and human villages.
The weather is harsh most of the year, but a small growing season in the summer makes crop growing possible. The main source of income however, comes from mining ore.

BROKEN WOODS
Empire- Population Low, Rulership Kingdom ; AL: LE; Wealth: Moderate; Power Center: Yellowlilly Fern.
The Broken Woods are the last remaining refuge of the High Elves. The encroachment of humans has devastated the once great forest, and left it a patchy area of wooded forests.
For the most part the high elves keep to themselves, however, the growing number of train tracks through their forests have led to an increasing number of violent incidents.

Scortching Wastes
Tribal- Population Low, Rulership: Clan ; AL: NG; Wealth: Low; Power Center: None
Far to the south of Arcus sits a fiery wasteland of yellow-red sand. The Scotching Wastes is an inhospitable place with little water, and little life. Except, of course for the dragonborn. These proud warriors make their life in this harsh environment. Wandering the desert in search of food and water.
