Races:
Only races allowed are PHB and PHBII races, and Genasi, or Orc
Classes:
All Classes Allowed. You start at level 1.
Ability Scores:
Method 2: Customizing Scores from PHB
Skills:
Skills are handled normally, with one addition. Choose a profession that your character has a background in, Farming, Sailing, etc. And I will determine times in game when you gain a bonus on a skill check due from your background.
Alignment:
Don't bother with it. Just give me a basic set of principles that your character follows. Example: "My character believes the weak should be protected." or "My character believes he is entitled to whatever he can take"
Deities:
Use the Standard Gods from the PHB.
Background:
Give me a basic background for your character. I want the reason he/she started adventuring, and where he/she came from.

Not sure if this is going to help anyone, but would either of you guys want to play a controller? I could abandon the Wizard idea and maybe play a Warlord or Cleric and someone could try a controller (although I know enygmasoul's played a Wizard before).

I have no problem stepping down as team Wizard if it'd be fun for you to play one, Atrius. Playing another, non-Bard leader sounds like it could be cool.
However, if enygmasoul does end up rolling a bard and abandoning her defender character, we'd only have one of those...Not sure how fun it would be for the squishier members to have only one tank in such a large group (harder for the Rogue to set up backstabs, too, I assume), so I'd have no reservations coming up with a Fighter, either, as I've been itching to try a 4E one. Got the background half-formed in my mind, too. Also, how necessary is a Cleric? All leaders don't inherently handle healing, do they (I know almost nothing about them)? Again, I wouldn't mind rolling one of those, either.
So whatever works. Lemme know!

enygmasoul, you are absolutely right. You got screwed, and it is my fault. I am sorry. I do not really want to allow preview classes, and you accepted that right off the bat. The only reason I changed my mind was we really needed a leader class for the group.
So it was my fault and I am sorry. Though it seems we are all good at this point. When I get all the character sheets in, we can start on 1 on 1s. I have three of them done so far.

Any classes changes necessary from anyone? Or are we just going forward with what we've got?

OK, here's my suggestion:
engymasoul and I will run Bards (if she wants to run one), Jin can remain a Wizard if he wants or switch to Fighter and the rest of the party can remain as is.

Sounds good to me. I'd only switch to Fighter if enygma's dropping her Swordmage, since my Wizard's ready to go already. Decision's up to her, I suppose. On second thought, likely staying with the Wizard since we'd need a controller more than a second Defender.

Well as far as im reading it sounds like Atrius would have fun playing a Controller (Wizard) and Jin wouldn't mind one of the approved "Leader" classes (Cleric/Warlord). This would keep enygma as her class, give us both a controller and a leader, AND Not allow potentially broken class into the game. As much as i love the idea of a bard, i'm leaning with harqim's first stance of avoiding dragon magazine stuff. They put it out far earlier then they should be just to let Players playtest them and mail in suggestions.
I do admit though if no one else has an issue with Dragon Magazine stuff i'm fine with it. Just be a bit careful ne? It's still a "beta" version afterall.
That would then make the group look like:
Cleric/Warblade (Leader) Wizard (Controller) Paladin (Defender) Swordmage (Defender) Rogue (Striker) Ranger (Striker)

I believe I said I am won't objection to alterations to keep balance. I reckon it will be fun to try them out. I am subscribed to DDI, so I can send any thoughts we have as we playtest it.
It only goes to level 10 and is missing needed Bardic Rituals, but I am happy to leave those out.

Are there any discussions still going on off-forum? Things've been quiet for the last couple days. The game's still on and we're just waiting for character backgrounds to come in, right?

Yeah, things have been quiet for two reasons. One, it's the holidays, and two, I've been pretty sick for the last few days. But things are going about as planned. I just need to get the last two character sheets.
Actually Krystal and I already did her 1 on 1.
